Many in the design industry charge in a way that should only be applied to businesses entities.  They build a website that will last that business maybe 5 or 6 years.  A campaign however only last sometimes one year so why should it be priced the same?

The design industry has to wake up and smell the coffee and start charging campaigns reduced rates.  Also campaigns have to stop dishing out thousands for website design because they think that is just the way it goes.  Brightest Designs understands the predicament campaigns and non-profits are in and we charge accordingly.   After all this is not a rich business we are dealing with its donations from many hard working Americans who want to impact that non-profit or campaign the best they can.

Be careful folks there are firms out there who prey on ignorance they charge exorbitantly only because they think you expect it not cause they deserve it.

It appears that Microsoft has started offering pre-ordering of the much awaited Zune HD.  This product is sleek and for only $219.00 you can get one with 16GB of on-board memory.  This undercuts the IPod touch 16GB model which retails for $299.00.  Apple will most likely be cutting these prices soon in response to the Zune…  So if you want an ipod touch just hold off another month and see what happens. Heres the pre-order link for the Zune launching officially September 15th : http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Zune-HD-16/product/01A9B8A7

This announcement coupled with the release of Windows 7 Oct 22 seems to signal a bit of a rebound for the old software giant.  Who knows?

I Provide to solutions:

1.) Download and install picasa its free from google and is a wonderful application.  In picasa you can highlight photos then click the button at the bottom that says “Export”.  Do this with any photos you plan to upload to your website or blog: Choosing 400px – 600px will be fine for your blog and decrease the size sometimes 80%.  That means faster page loads for your site visitors.

2.) If you use wordpress download the plugin “Scissors”  you need to have GD support keep in mind but any decent host will have this.  This plugin will actually resize your photos upon upload to whatever you specify then toss that 2mb photo out the window where it belongs. (-:

1.) You need to acquire a new web-host for your WordPress blog.  There are a gazillion choices out there to choose from but if you want a no headache solution we will host it for $25/yr.  Just contact us using our contact form & leave your phone number so we can give you a call.

2.) Now that you have your webhost you need to acquire a domain name if you haven’t already.  I suggest using http://www.NameCheap.com they offer great prices on domains.  If you do a little search on google for “Namecheap coupon codes” you may be able to knock the price per year to just $8.88.  Compare that with godaddy.com or register.com and there won’t be any real comparison. (-:

3.) Forward your domain over to your webhost.  They may supply you with nameservers or an IP either way consult your registeration company to handle forward.

4.) Now that you have your hosting and domain situated its time to install wordpress.  If you use use we do this for you among other things just to make your life well a piece of cake.  You can obtain wordpress at: www.WordPress.org

5.) Once installed upload your favorite template or if your really good design your own.  This site provides a 100 cool themes you can download for free.  Find the one you like and upload it to your /wp-content/themes folder  then go into wordpress and activate it.

Tip 1:  Customizing headers can be accomplished by accessing the stylesheet.css in your new templates folder.

Tip 2: Make sure you choose a template that is “widget ready”  this will make adding things to the side bars really simple.

Tip 3: The widget text can be any html code so if you have a adsense banner this where you can place that code.  or even just a picture.

6.) Run the import of your posts from Blogger.  To do this go into the backend of wordpress and find “tools”  now click “import” choose blogger and begin process.

7.) So now you have a wordpress blog with all your posts from blogger.  Congrats if you made it this far!

8.) Now its time for you to forward blogger.  First make a new post on your blogger saying you are moving hosts and include the link to the new blog  (also if you have feed subscribers let them know your new feed”.  Next include this tag in your html code header ensuring to put your domain in the code: Click here for tag

Change the content=”4 to content=”0  so it redirects immediately.  Some people suggest at this point removing all your old posts from blogger.  This is optional.

9.) Thats it now your blogger is forwarding to your new site.  Be sure to post a “welcome to my new home” post informing users that the rss feeds have changed and they should adjust them if they are using feedburner or a software like that.
